I've been on quite a journey these past several years as a wedding and portrait photographer in Hampton Roads, Virginia. Building my own photography business starting in 2009 were equal parts exciting and rewarding, but also exhausting. In 2014, a change had to occur so that I could keep my sanity and still make a living from the passion that I love. (See Part I - Yes... I'm Still Shooting Photos Professionally.)
Enter Ross Costanza of Ross Costanza Photography (RCP). Ross and I started our photography businesses right around the same time. We had met up a few times over the years and respected each other's work. While I grew my photography company at a decent pace, Ross had grown RCP faster and more efficiently; big enough in most years that the most popular weekends were always booked, and future inquiries would have to be turned down and referred out to others. This is a predicament many wedding photographers encounter annually. We can only shoot one wedding per day.
As explained in the previous blog post, an opportunity arose that had me photographing a wedding for Ross. Things went fantastically. So much so, that after much discussion, we came to an agreement that I would photograph weddings as a primary photographer for Ross Costanza Photography. With the majority of the business side handled by our team at RCP, I am free to concentrate on capturing the best photos I can for our wedding clients while providing them a friendly and enjoyable experience on their special day. This business venture has been beneficial for everyone involved, from Ross and Jess to myself and to our clientele.
Here is a sample of the engagement portraits and weddings I've photographed since joining the Ross Costanza Photography team.
