Announcement: Might I Trouble You to Resend Your Booking Inquiry?

I received some disappointing information recently that due to an unannounced change to the servers of a major hosting company who shall not be named (cough)GoDaddy(cough), the contact forms on this site have been incorrectly telling you, my potential photography clients, that your booking inquiries have successfully been sent to me, but when my host processed the requests, it refused to send them to my inbox.  In short:

If you have sent a booking inquiry to me via the contact form on this site during the month of February 2011 and I have not responded, I simply never received your inquiry, and for that, I apologize.  In the meantime, if you would like to hire me for photography services, please send an e-mail directly to me -- john(at)johncacherophotography.com -- or give me a call at 757-675-6647.

At the moment (and after hours of scouring forums for a solution), the contact forms appear to be fixed, however, directly contacting me will ensure that I will receive your booking inquiries.

So, please, bear with me as I make the move away from my current hosting situation over to a new hosting server.  If all goes well, I'll also have a nifty new site to let you know that the switch has successfully occurred.

Thanks,

John Cachero

Norfolk, Virginia Freelance Photography for CNN.com - Jones Family Portrait

John Cachero Photography was hired by CNN.com for freelance photography in Norfolk, Virginia for an article in their Health section.

CNN Health: "How to Guard Against Baby Snatchers"

I was assigned to get a family portrait of the Norfolk family who was going to be featured in the article.  As guidance, the writer told me that he wanted the portrait to "evoke family, security, strength, and love".  When I posted a gallery of shots for him and his fellow staff to select a portrait to be used, they picked my favorite.  He said they all agreed that this portrait was simply gorgeous and exactly what they wanted.

I was glad I delivered what they asked for, especially since this is my first work published by a national news organization.  (I'm so stoked.)

Here are a few of the family portraits of the Jones family that I took that day.  The first photo is the one featured in the article.

2011 Senior Portraits in Norfolk, Virginia - Brittany B.

John Cachero Photography had the pleasure of photographing Brittany's 2011 senior portraits in Norfolk, Virginia.

Brittany is a senior at Tallwood High School in Virginia Beach, but wanted to get her portraits taken in and around downtown Norfolk where she works.  We discussed where we both thought would be fun places to shoot and then knocked it out her photos one fine Sunday afternoon.

Here are some of my favorites from my senior portraits session with Brittany.

Virginia Beach Bridal Portraits - Megan R.

John Cachero Photography had the pleasure photographing Megan's bridal portraits in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Whenever my clients and I discuss where a portrait session should take place, I always put the wishes of my clients first.  If they know where they would like their photos to be taken, we'll take them there... there's beauty to be found everywhere.  However, this is the first time I had to insist on a different place for portraits.

When Megan excitedly described to me the details of her beautiful wedding dress, I immediately envisioned where I wanted to shoot her bridals, but Megan was set on having her photos taken on the beach.  I explained to her that her dress would be better shot in a colonial setting, which would further romanticize her beauty in that dress, rather than on a beach.  She trusted me, though, she only reluctantly agreed.  After I showed her the completed set, she enthusiastically thanked me for changing her mind.

Here are just some of my favorites from Megan's bridal portrait session.

Norfolk, Virginia Bat Mitzvah Photography - Rachel K.

John Cachero Photography had the pleasure of photographing Rachel who celebrated her Bat Mitzvah at Congregation Beth El and at the Norfolk Yacht And Country Club in Norfolk, Virginia.

I always feel blessed and privileged when I'm allowed to share in this most sacred tradition when a girl becomes recognized as an adult in the Jewish community.  Rachel and her family were a joy to be around and they certainly know how to have a good time.

Here are my favorite shots from Rachel's two exciting days.

(Special thanks to the amazingly talented Eleise Theuer who helped me out on this weekend.)

2011 Senior Portraits in Chesapeake, Virginia - Katie I.

John Cachero Photography had the pleasure of photographing Katie's 2011 senior portraits in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Katie is a senior at Hickory High School who not only loves cars and racing, but also knows her way around an auto garage.  When she's not racing go-karts, she's working on vehicles alongside her dad.  My main goal for this session was to capture the passion for automobiles that she shares with her father.

I was fortunate to photograph Katie's senior portraits with two of the most awesome props I've gotten to use thus far... her family's 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport and 1930 Ford Model A.

Classic cars, antique cars, and a pretty girl?  That's a recipe for some great shots.  Here are just some of my favorites.

(Also, at the end of the post, I included the collage I designed for the full page ad Katie's parents bought for the 2011 Hickory High School yearbook.  I removed the text at Katie's request so that she could read her parents' message to her when she gets her yearbook in the spring.)

John Cachero Photography had the pleasure of photographing Brandon's 2011 senior portraits in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Here's a quick peek at my photo session with this Hickory High School senior who, despite that he never likes getting his picture taken, is a great son for being a good sport during our session that his mother insisted we do.

Williamsburg, Virginia Wedding Photography - Kristen & Jeremy

John Cachero Photography had the pleasure of photographing Kristen and Jeremy, who celebrated their wedding ceremony and reception at the City of Williamsburg Community Building in Williamsburg, Virginia.

I have to hand it to Kristen and Jeremy for being prepared with a contingency plan and being able to roll with what the weather had dealt them, because on the day of their wedding, an incredible snowstorm (rare for Hampton Roads) put a halt on their original plan to have their wedding ceremony at the Jamestown Memorial Church at Historic Jamestowne.  Their caterer did a phenomenal job transforming the reception site into a suitable ceremony site and, with absolute grace, Kristen and Jeremy had a beautiful and fun wedding as the snow continued to fall throughout the night.

I would like to thank Rebecca Franklin (primary shooter on this wedding) who allowed me to help capture this wonderful evening.  Congratulations, Kristen and Jeremy!

Here are my favorite shots.

Survive Norfolk - Freelance Photography in Norfolk, Virginia

John Cachero Photography took to the streets to photograph the Survive Norfolk event held in Ghent on October 22, 2010.  I am incredibly stoked I was able to be a part of this event which showcased not only that this Hampton Roads community needs more organized events, but also that thousands of us can congregate in public without any incidents.  Many, many articles have been written up about Survive Norfolk, both beforehand and afterward, so I will limit my words here.  Just Google "Survive Norfolk" and you'll see just how big this event became.  I'm glad it was such a success.

The Survive Norfolk description from the Facebook event page:
Get ready to run, duck, hide, outwit, and outmaneuver your opponents as you take to the streets of Ghent to survive in the most epic race for your life.  It's part tag, part footrace, part zombie apocalypse.

Also, here are some other links of note:

Below are some of my favorite photos I took from Survive Norfolk that night.

Concert Photography in Norfolk, Virginia – Today the Moon, Tomorrow the Sun – 12/17/09

John Cachero Photography had the pleasure of photographing Today the Moon, Tomorrow the Sun at Hell's Kitchen in Norfolk, Virginia this past winter.

Yes, I'm more than a little late posting this, but I was reminded about this set because TTMTTS is coming back to Hampton Roads this weekend!

This set is from the 2nd time I got to see this amazing indie electro fuzz rock band from Atlanta play in Norfolk (I first saw them and introduced myself to them at The Boot).  I was stoked to find out they were excited to let me shoot this show.  Afterward, I asked them to let me shoot some band photos of them on Granby Street.  It was freezing that night, but I was happy with what we got in only about 5 minutes in the cold.

Check out Today the Moon, Tomorrow the Sun on Facebook, MySpace, and on YouTube, and if you get the chance, you really ought to see their live show.  This hard working band really has the drive and talent to make it big time.

These photos were featured in this article about the band posted on AltDaily.com.
