Norfolk, Virginia Freelance Photography for CNN.com - Jones Family Portrait

John Cachero Photography was hired by CNN.com for freelance photography in Norfolk, Virginia for an article in their Health section.

CNN Health: "How to Guard Against Baby Snatchers"

I was assigned to get a family portrait of the Norfolk family who was going to be featured in the article.  As guidance, the writer told me that he wanted the portrait to "evoke family, security, strength, and love".  When I posted a gallery of shots for him and his fellow staff to select a portrait to be used, they picked my favorite.  He said they all agreed that this portrait was simply gorgeous and exactly what they wanted.

I was glad I delivered what they asked for, especially since this is my first work published by a national news organization.  (I'm so stoked.)

Here are a few of the family portraits of the Jones family that I took that day.  The first photo is the one featured in the article.

Survive Norfolk - Freelance Photography in Norfolk, Virginia

John Cachero Photography took to the streets to photograph the Survive Norfolk event held in Ghent on October 22, 2010.  I am incredibly stoked I was able to be a part of this event which showcased not only that this Hampton Roads community needs more organized events, but also that thousands of us can congregate in public without any incidents.  Many, many articles have been written up about Survive Norfolk, both beforehand and afterward, so I will limit my words here.  Just Google "Survive Norfolk" and you'll see just how big this event became.  I'm glad it was such a success.

The Survive Norfolk description from the Facebook event page:
Get ready to run, duck, hide, outwit, and outmaneuver your opponents as you take to the streets of Ghent to survive in the most epic race for your life.  It's part tag, part footrace, part zombie apocalypse.

Also, here are some other links of note:

Below are some of my favorite photos I took from Survive Norfolk that night.

Concert Photography in Norfolk, Virginia - TailGate Down - 02/06/09

John Cachero Photography was hired to photograph the TailGate Down concert at Granby Theater in Norfolk, Virginia on February 6, 2009.  The Southeast Virginia based country rock band performed a charity concert benefiting the Hope House Foundation.  The guys were so easy to work with and, as a result of the full set I've already delivered to them, they want to hire me to photograph their band promo shots as well as cover their upcoming big concerts.  In addition to that, after checking out my Portfolio site, Aaron, the lead singer, and his fiancee, Kelly, have decided to hire me to photograph their wedding in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in October.

So check these guys out next time they are in your area.  They really do put on a rockin' show.

Opening Day Photos of Local Heroes Comics in Norfolk, Virginia

John Cachero Photography was hired to photograph the opening day of Local Heroes Comics in Norfolk, Virginia.  Local Heroes Comics, which is located right next door to Cogan's Pizza, is Ghent's only comic book and graphic novel store.  The owners, Greg and Meredith, were fantastic to work with, and as a comic book geek myself, I'm so excited that they filled a niche missing from the downtown Norfolk community.  Welcome them to the area by giving them a visit.
